Ranters, your anticipation for Assassin's Creed III's main storyline has been palpable so far - but what are you looking forward to in multiplayer? How will Annecy's experience with the series translate into the American Revolution - and possibly into 4-player co-op?Īssasssin's Creed III releases on October 30, 2012, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.Assassin's Creed 3 is going to be setting more than a few key milestones for Ubisoft, with the publisher hoping that overall sales is one of them. The results, so far, have been sets of utterly gorgeous screenshots and trailers and tantalizing gameplay details, but it might be some time before multiplayer trailers start rolling off the line. Even though Assassin's Creed III was only revealed at the beginning of March, senior developers within the Ubisoft ranks have been plugging away at it since Assassin's Creed II. It should be noted, however, that Annecy's Brotherhood/ Revelations lineage likely means that the multiplayer hasn't been in production as long as the core AC III story surronding Connor Ratohnhaké:ton. Previous AC titles have been limited to 2-8 player online battles (which are still planned for AC III as well), but a cooperative component that offers an extra angle to previously repetitive side questing or somehow blends in with the main storyline could definitely benefit from Annecy's talents. It's good to see that Ubisoft is maintaining some stability within its development depth chart - especially since recently tipped us off on Assassin's Creed III's 4-player co-op plans. His twit-bio currently describes him as the "Lead Game Designer on Assassin's Creed 3 Multiplayer - Annecy" - about the closest thing there is to official confirmation these days. Thanks to Gamerzines, we were alerted to the Twitter page of designer Tim Brown - a new team member at Annecy. By the time Revelations rolled around (read our review), the wide assortment of multiplayer game types and customization options combined nicely with some super sleek assassin-hunting gameplay to create an engaging experience for fans of the series.Ībstergo indoctrinees will have no trouble hearing, then, that Ubisoft Annecy has gotten its marching orders and will be joining the revolutionary ranks in Assassin's Creed III. Much of the credit for that can go to developer Ubisoft Annecy, who was tasked with building the mode while heavyweight Ubisoft Montreal guided the main AC narrative.
